Statement of Faith
We believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom we live and move and have our being! Relating to this beautiful truth are the following basic truths by which we live:
The verbal inspiration of the accepted canon of Sacred Scriptures as originally given (II Timothy 3:16; I Corinthians 2:13)
The Trinity of the Godhead (Matthew 28:19; Colossians 2:9)
The Creation, Test and Fall of man, as recorded in Genesis: his total spiritual depravity and inability to attain to Divine Righteousness. (Romans 5:12)
The Savior of men, the Lord Jesus Christ, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, very God and very man. (Luke 1:26-35; John 1:18; Isaiah 9:6)
Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again on the third day, and personally appeared to the disciples. (I Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 4:25)
Salvation of sinners by grace through faith in the perfect and sufficient work of the cross of Calvary. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 9:12; Romans 5:11)
Baptism of the repentant believer in water, a holy act commanded by God's Word. The body of the believer (dipped, immersed) completely under water. In this act of obedience and faith, the believer is identifying with the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:38; Romans 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Colossians 2:11-12). The Baptism in the Holy Spirit for all believers today, with the gift of tongues available to the believer. (Acts 2:1-4; 8:14-17; 10:44-46)
The gifts of the Spirit as enumerated in I Corinthians chapters 12 - 14, being exercised and practiced as manifested in the early church.
The healing of the body by Divine Power, or Divine Healing in its many aspects as practiced by the early church. (Acts 4:30; Romans 8:11, I Corinthians 12:9; James 5:14; Matthew 8:17; I Peter 2:24; Mark 16:17-20)
The Lord's memorial, commonly called Supper, for believers, (I Corinthians 11:12-32).
The bodily Ascension of Jesus to Heaven, His exaltation, and His personal coming for His church. (John 14:2-3; I Thessalonians 4:13-18)
Proclamation:
To evangelize the local community and the world for Jesus Christ. To give generously to and support missions. To preach God's Word under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. To provide a meaningful worship and time of prayer. To observe the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper.
Discipleship:
To encourage and train God's people to have an effective influence and loving ministry.
Ministry:
To reach out to persons outside the church. To care. To fellowship with and to encourage one another and others to a closer spiritual walk with the Lord according to Ephesians 4:12-13.
Why we Worship the way we do
Our desire here at Equippers Outreach Fellowship is to be obedient to the Holy Spirit and follow the trust given to us in God's Word regarding the flow of the Spirit which you will see demonstrated from time to time as you fellowship with us.
Praise is a very important part of what we do in worship. We combine old hymns and new choruses, many based on scripture verses, to express our love and gratitude to God. Various musical styles and combinations of instruments assist us in applying the instructions of Psalm 150 to “Let everything that has life and breath praise the Lord!” Words are printed on the overhead screen for your convenience.
Hands Raised In The Air during worship is a symbol of surrender, adoration and supplication. It is a very Biblical (Psalm 63:4, I Timothy 2:8) and very personal expression of worship.
Psalm 46:10 instructs us to “Be Still And Know God”. As we worship, our praise gradually gives way to prayer and meditation as we become quiet before God and let His Spirit commune within each heart.
We Believe The Holy Spirit Is Active Today in the life and worship of the church, as described in I Corinthians 12, 13 and 14. For that reason, we allow individuals to come to the front to share testimonies or insights which they feel the Spirit of God may be urging them to speak. The pastor and elders are responsible for assuring that this process is followed in an orderly and Biblical manner.
Laying On Of Hands And Anointing With Oil for prayer. Matthew 16:18, Mark 6:13, Acts 9:17, Acts 28:8, James 5:14.
Some “Fall” when they come in contact with God's power in the prayer line. II Chronicles 5:14, John 18:6, Matthew 28:4, Revelation 1:17, Acts 9:4, Acts 22:17.
